Alex Coronel

Who is Alex Coronel is a versatile American contemporary artist, whose creative journey spans various mediums, including painting, installation, sculpture, illustration, animation, film, and more. His artistic expression seamlessly weaves together elements of conceptual art, minimalism, abstract expressionism, design, pop art, and surrealism.

Playfulness is a defining element of his work, driving his transformation from strictly a painter into a dynamic multimedia artist. Today, Alex continues to chase that high he experienced after making his first jungle diorama in grade school.

Im constantly pushing to be the best version of myself in my work. I remain open to playful times and I welcome change. My goals have always been to produce work that is me, for nothing to translate as artificial and to remain cognizant of the delicate balance between significance and lightheartedness. This has evolved into another goal of not losing communication with my audience, for my work to remain approachable.

Young artists, you’re flooded with images and influences. It’s a double edged sword. There are a lot of positives to the accessibility of art and content today, just make sure you’re the one in control of those influences you allow into your work. Take a breather every now and then. Shut it off and shut it down. Take a step back often and ask “Is this me?”
