Printing
& Framing.
Every print sold through Flaco Photography is produced to order using materials chosen specifically for longevity, accuracy, and presence on the wall.
The Paper
All prints are produced on Moab Entrada Rag Natural 300, a 100% cotton rag fine art paper that is acid-free, buffered, and archival. It is one of the most respected substrates in fine art printing and the preferred choice of photographers and institutions that take permanence seriously.
Its warm, natural tone enhances the depth of the image without adding artificial brightness. The surface holds fine detail with exceptional clarity, and its weight gives the finished print a physical presence that coated photo papers cannot replicate.
This is not a paper chosen for economy. It is chosen because it is the right paper for the work.
The Inks
All prints are produced using archival pigment inks rated for 100 or more years of stable display life under proper conditions. These are the same inks used in museum-quality giclée printing worldwide.
Pigment inks are chosen over dye-based alternatives because they resist fading, resist humidity, and maintain color accuracy over decades rather than years. Combined with the Moab Entrada Rag substrate, the result is a print built to outlast the wall it hangs on.
The Process
Every print is produced to order. Nothing is printed in advance, warehoused, or pulled from stock. When your order is placed, production begins. This ensures every print is produced at its full quality with no degradation from storage or handling.
Production typically takes 7 to 10 business days. Once shipped, domestic orders arrive within 3 to 7 business days. Total time from order to delivery is typically 2 to 3 weeks.
The Sizes
Available sizes vary by edition and are listed on each individual product page.
Every print is numbered.
Every print is part of a strictly numbered edition. Edition sizes range from 1 to 25 prints total. Each print is individually numbered, signed by Gerardo Hernandez, and accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity documenting the edition number, print size, paper stock, and artist signature.
When an edition sells out, it is retired permanently. No reprints are ever made under any circumstances. This policy is unconditional.
Ships unframed.
Framing is not currently offered through Flaco Photography. Every print ships unframed, ready for you to frame locally with the materials and framer of your choosing.
Framing Recommendations
Because these prints are produced on a fine art cotton rag paper, the framing process matters. A few things worth knowing before you frame.
Work with a professional framer.
Fine art prints on rag paper respond differently to humidity, temperature, and mounting tension than standard photo papers. A framer with experience in fine art works will know how to handle the material correctly.
Use UV-protective glazing.
Standard glass transmits UV light that fades pigment inks over time. Specify UV-protective glass or UV-protective acrylic (such as Tru Vue Museum Glass or equivalent) to protect the long-term integrity of the print. This is the single most important framing decision you can make.
Use acid-free matting and backing.
Any materials in direct or indirect contact with the print should be acid-free and archival. Non-archival materials off-gas acids over time that will damage the paper and inks regardless of how well everything else is done.
Do not dry mount or use adhesives.
Prints should be hinged or floated, not mounted. Dry mounting is irreversible and incompatible with the long-term care of a fine art print.
Allow for expansion.
Cotton rag paper responds subtly to changes in humidity. Leave appropriate clearance between the print and the glazing to allow for this movement without causing buckling or contact damage.
Handle with care.
Always handle prints by the edges. Fingerprints deposit oils onto the surface that are difficult to remove and can cause permanent damage over time. If you need to lay the print flat, place it face-up on a clean, dry, lint-free surface.
Store unframed prints rolled in their original tube or flat between sheets of acid-free tissue paper in a cool, dry environment away from direct light. Do not store in plastic bags or sealed containers, which can trap moisture.
Built to last.
Avoid hanging prints in direct sunlight or in high-humidity environments such as bathrooms or kitchens. Consistent temperature and humidity are ideal. Wide fluctuations in either accelerate degradation of both paper and inks.
When framed with archival materials and UV-protective glazing, prints produced on Moab Entrada Rag Natural 300 with archival pigment inks are rated for over 100 years of stable display life under proper conditions.
